The idea of the vPos tracking and visualisation system was born on the Soaring Conference at Elverum in the winter of 2003. Thomas Sevalrud, a researcher employed by Simula Research demonstrated his SilentWings Soaring Simulator to Nils Barkald working with NavSys, a company with experience in microlectronics, telemetry and GPRS-modems. Unfortunately, the idea was not developed further this year because none of the inventors were able to raise the sufficent funding.
