Q: When will the vPos system be available for pilots, clubs and competition organisers?
A: vPtrackers can be delivered in april 2006.

Q: What is the price of the system?
A. The price for a vPtracker including one SilentWings Viewer license and one year subscription for access to the vPserver is € 990 (ex. VAT)

Q: Where can I buy a vPtracker?
A: vPos will initally handle the sale of the vPtrackers. When the volume of trackers sold increases, we would want to establish a dealer network.

Q: What is the running cost for transmitting GPRS data?
A: The cost is minimal - less than € 0.1 per hour, depending on the mobile phone operator.

Q: Can the vPos system be hired by a competition organiser?
A: Yes, a package consisting of any number of vPtrackers can be hired. It can also include a special version of the SilentWings Viewer capable of showing advertisements. If a competiton organiser decides to use this version of the SilentWings Viewer, a time limited version of the Viewer will be made available for the public with no extra charge.

Q: The GSM-system is not designed to support airborne GSM-phones. What is the secret behind the vPos technology?
A: Although the antennas of the GSM base stations are directed downwards, weaker sidelobes are pointing in any direction making access to the network from the air possible. The vPtracker continuously checks if it is possible to get access to the GSM-network. If it is, connection to the vPserver is established and any data buffered in the vPtracker is sent to the vPserver. As many have experienced, it is difficult to establish a speech connection from the air. The vPtracker only needs to maintain the connection for less than a second to send its data.

Q: There is a built in battery in the vPtracker. What is the duration of this battery before charging is required?
A: 10 hrs at an ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. Less at lower temperatures.

Q: Does vPos have any plans to include an IGC-approved Flight Recorder?
A: We are looking into it, but since there are quite a lot of FR's on the market it is not evident that this will be done?
